Marco Pierre White
What is the recipe you need to become a genius? Marco Pierre White‘s recipe has a humble start. The Godfather of modern British cooking, was born in Leeds, England, on December 11th, 1961. At only 46 he has achieved legendary status, both as a chief and restaurateur. However, as a youngster his glittering cooking future was not evident from his school reports.
He left Allerton High School in Leeds without any qualifications and had to make a choice about what he was going to do. Luckily for British cuisine he decided to train as a chief.
Marco began his training as a chef at the Hotel St George in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, before moving on to the Box Tree’s kitchens (IIkley) and then ultimately arriving in London as a sixteen year old to begin his formal training at the famous Le Gavroche restaurant, Mayfair.
At Le Gavroche Marco trained under the world famous chefs the Roux brothers, Michel and Albert. However, Le Gavroche and the Roux brothers were only one of the many places that he worked at before ultimately becoming a head chief.
By the time Marco Pierre White had finished his training his CV read like a who’s who of British cuisine; The Roux brothers, Pierre Koffman at La Tante Claire, Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, and Nico Ladenis of Chez Nico.
By the age of 33 Pierre White was ready to open his own restaurant, but that’s a story for another day, for now, thank you for reading Marco Pierre White – The Recipe Of A Genius on Marcos Great British feast
